Welcome to KidsDoGardening. We’re glad you have stopped by and we thought that we would write a little introduction to what our site is about and why we are building it.

Having grown up in a town, I didn’t have much of a chance to get out into the countryside and enjoy what it has to offer. However, now having a family of my own and being fortunate enough to live in the countryside, I really can understand the importance of crop growing and can see where the food on our plates comes from.

I have always been an avid gardener, helping my Father and Grandfather

Since Moving to the countryside, I have been an avid gardener and take great pleasure in organising the garden ready for the warmer seasons of the year. And then along came T!

Children Helping in the garden

T is a February baby so it is normally pretty bleak over his birthday but the growing season is not that far away. I do remember when he was about 15 months, we had some great fun in the garden planting up some sun flower seeds to put in the ground. This was definitely his introduction to gardening and boy did he love it. There is nothing better than seeing your little one getting covered in mud and spilling water all over themselves.

Also, whilst not something that he would get involved in, he has always had a fascination with lawn mowers! I guess this probably comes from my side of the family as my Grandfather relished in the challenge of taking a lawnmower apart and putting it back together again – and not just any old lawnmower but one of those cylinder types. I’ve always fancied doing it myself but I am probably going to need to save that for later years.

I personally also have some very fond memories of helping my father and grandfathers in the garden and I really want to T to have those memories too. They are priceless. Hopefully, he will share the same view in 30 years time!

What is our aim with this site?

Well, that is a good question! To be honest, I’ve always been looking around for some inspiration on what we can do with the garden and believe it or not, I have always found it quite difficult to find information on gardening with kids. And, as we already own a blog daynest.com we know a little about blogging – oh and gardening too. So here we are, giving it a go.

2019 is the start of our little adventure as we showcase some of the great things that you can do in the garden with the children. We’ll cover off a whole array of topics including gardening, the benefits of gardening and what gardening really promotes and brings into your own spaces at home.

We really hope that you find our website interesting and that it provides you with some great inspiration for your own gardens and your little ones experiences.
